  1. How does Chiropractic work?

Chiropractic works by restoring your body's inborn ability to heal. When under the proper control of your nervous system, all the cells, tissues, and organs of your body are able to resist disease and ill health. The chiropractic approach to better health is to locate and remove interferences in your nervous system. With improved spinal function, there is improved nervous system function. A healthy spine and a healthy lifestyle are your keys to optimal health.

  2. What kind of training do Chiropractors undergo?

Doctors of Chiropractic are well trained. After four years of intense training, graduates are awarded with a Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) degree. Each candidate must them pass a demanding four-part National Board Examination. After passing the boards, doctors apply to a governmental and/or professional licensing board and pass another difficult test before being granted the privilege to practice. A chiropractor's education, however, never ends. Most doctors complete regular postgraduate instruction for license renewal and to stay current on the latest research and adjustment techniques.

  3. What is Chiropractic care?

Chiropractic is a natural form of health care that focuses on locating and correcting spine and nerve problems that interfere with communication in the body. It is based on the premise that your body has an inborn ability to heal itself, given that there is no interference. Chiropractic is the science, art, and philosophy of locating nerve interference and correcting it, thereby allowing your body to reach its health potential.

  4. What is an adjustment?

A chiropractic adjustment is the art of using a specific force in a precise direction, applied to a joint that is subluxated, "locked up," or not moving properly. The purpose of this procedure is to eliminate interference to the nervous system, improving spinal function and overall health.

  5. Is it safe?

Yes. Chiropractic has an excellent safety record. It is the result of a conservative and natural approach to health that avoids invasive procedures and/or drugs. As proof, one merely needs to compare malpractice rates between chiropractors and other health care professionals. Chiropractors' malpractice premiums are a small fraction of those for medical doctors.

  6. What is Applied Kinesiology?

Applied Kinesiology (AK) is a system that evaluates structural, chemical and mental aspects of health using manual muscle testing combined with other standard methods of diagnosis. AK, a non-invasive system of evaluating body function that is unique in the healing arts, has become a dynamic movement in health care in its relatively short existence.

The combined terms “applied” and “kinesiology” describe the basis of this system, which is the use of manual muscle testing to evaluate body function through the dynamics of the musculoskeletal system.

Treatments may involve specific joint manipulation or mobilization, various myofascial therapies, cranial techniques, meridian and acupuncture skills, clinical nutrition, dietary management, counselling skills, evaluating environmental irritants and various reflex procedures.
