Our Team
Dr. Kristin Shiver, DC
Dr. Shiver is a graduate of the Palmer College of Chiropractic. Located in Davenport, Iowa (the birthplace of chiropractic), Palmer College is internationally known for the highest quality in chiropractic education. Chiropractic has been instrumental in Dr. Shiver’s own health. As a baby, she suffered from colic and received her first chiropractic adjustment at the age of 6 months old. As a 6-year-old, Dr. Shiver suffered from back pain, and was extremely uncoordinated. A chiropractor discovered that she had a scoliosis. Through chiropractic care, Dr. Shiver became pain free, was able to participate in regular activities, and no longer had the scoliosis. She is one of the four co-founders of the Gainesville Wellness Center.
Akemi Meeks Borjas, AP

After Graduation, Akemi was hired by the college to teach. Younger than many of her colleagues, Akemi’s journey to health has not been easy, and has given her valuable real-world experience. At the young age of 22, she was diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer. After undergoing surgery, she declined the standard chemotherapy treatment and instead used acupuncture, chi kung (qigong), and food therapy, in conjunction with supervised medical care. Not only did she make a complete recovery, but today she is healthier and happier than ever before. Akemi is a long-time resident of Gainesville, and is fluent in Spanish. She is available for private consultation, referrals, as well as educational speaking engagements. She is one of the four co-founders of the Gainesville Wellness Center.
